St. Swithun's History
For over a thousand years a church has stood on the site of St. Swithun's serving as a centre for Christian Worship and a focal point in the heart of East Grinstead. This hilltop position was chosen as a site for the church in the late tenth century. It was named after one of the most popular saints of that time, St. Swithun, Bishop of Winchester - 852-86.
